We have a lot of experience with CAT G3306 and G33304 engines. A new series CAT3400 and and G3500 have been introduced which we are having frequent valve drops. An RCA carried out on one of the failed ones indicate wrong valve bridge used. But this failure is now occuring even on units with correct spec of materials installed. Has any body got experience he can share on how we can overcome this problem.

The units are mostly Gas or diesel used to power electric power generatings sets.

Can you please be a little more specific? What exactly do you mean by valve drops?

By 'valve drops' do you mean that you are having high valve recession?

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the extended down time. The database was severely corrupted and took many attempts to repair. The final attempt required our sever techs to manually find and remove each error from the database -- this alone took around 30 hours.

Secondly, the forum should behave properly now. There may have been a small amount of data loss, however.
If you notice anything odd about your account, please visit the "Member Notes and Requests to Admin/Mods" section and start a thread any issue you may have and we'll try to resolve them.
**Please note** Any lost threads and posts cannot be recovered. I apologize for this.

Also, three letter searches now work.

We are going to continue to monitor the server and the database over the next few days.

Again, I apologize for the downtime and the inconvenience.

    -Sirius

I would like to point out that I have been using CAT G3306 over the last six months and have never encountered a problem. Before that we brought a Chinese engine because it was cheap. In the beginning everything went on smoothly. After two months the engine suddenly broke down. When we enquired we found that the cost of repairing it was more than its actual price. So finally we decided to keep it aside and purchased a CAT.
